Ground floor: Main entrance into an open plan living/dining area with a fireplace, and 2 sets of French windows that open onto terrace and lawns, and a separate door onto a patio. A kitchen area (full cooking facilities). A cloakroom with a WC and wash basin.

First floor: 2 double bedrooms both with bathrooms with showers and French windows onto a balcony. 2 single bedrooms. 1 family bathroom with shower.

Outside:

This type of villa is an exciting first for Travelux in Lefkada. With Green issues taking prominence, we are proud to introduce Villa Melivaro that promotes not having any connection to the main electricity supply, only a silent, sophisticated system that relies on Mother Nature's sun. The house has been beautifully constructed using recycled wooden beams, local natural stone and ecologically friendly paints. The stone was taken from the ground during excavations of the foundations and handcrafted to construct the thick walls of the house. The structure, using half timber frame and half stone, follows the very old traditional Lefkadian style and is a superb achievement. It is a testament to the local craftsmen and the owner of their skills. The house has wooden floors, beams and pillars; hidden alcoves and rooms and a cellar that adds to immense charm of this new villa. The well appointed kitchen with its enormous gas stove and other modern amenities seem to complement the old style stone built cupboards and marble tops.

There are gorgeous views from every part of the house that overlooks rural hills to the sea beyond. Even though this house is new, it has a warmth and simplistic charm, character and soul. As soon as you enter the front door you feel relaxed in this perfect family home.

Given the philosophy of the owners when constructing this villa, the decision was made not to put air conditioning in the house. They felt that the regular afternoon breezes in this particular area would suffice as nature's air conditioning. The infrastructure within Greece in general shows a willingness to address the environmental issues that face us all in the future. For obvious reasons the progress is going to be slow but it is encouraging to see these owners have made a brave attempt in this direction. It should be made clear that their objective when constructing this house was to be as faithful as possible to the traditional old style of Lefkadian rural architecture.

The overwhelming verdict of our first guests last summer was they must return to this lovely house. Melivaro is less than 1 km to Tsoukalades village for essential groceries and a taverna and less than 5 minutes drive to Pefkouli beach. It is perfectly situated for the famous Lefkadian sunsets.

N.B. Our package price includes a Group C car for up to 5 people and two Group C cars for 6 people for the full duration of your stay and will be collected/returned to the airport.
